Who Coro Energy is
Coro Energy Plc is listed on London’s AIM market under the ticker CORO and was founded in the United Kingdom in 2016. Its legacy gas assets have been fully divested, with the final transaction completed on 27 April 2026. The 2025 annual financial report, published on 11 June 2026, describes this as “completing the strategic pivot to a 100% renewable energy strategy” and sets out the current strategy: “building a scalable solar and battery energy storage (BESS) business in Vietnam, serving commercial and industrial customers”.
Vietnam is where the company has placed its focus. Through Coro Renewables Vietnam Co., Ltd., Coro operates rooftop solar for Phong Phu Corporation — more than 4,500 panels across four factory roofs under a 25-year power purchase agreement; for Mobile World Group across its retail sites under a 14-year contract; and, as announced on 7 April 2026, for new customer An Viet Phat Group. The next step is storage: a memorandum of understanding with Threefold Energy Group (3 July 2025) and a BESS pilot co-located with an existing Mobile World Group solar site in Ho Chi Minh City (announced 3 December 2025).
Electricity is the hardest part of a rest stop
Drivers see the charger. Infrastructure builders see what stands behind it. According to the public specifications page at cdrestop.com/vi/scharge, the Scharge system ranges from 7–14 kW AC standard charging to 80 kW, 160 kW and 200–400 kW DC fast charging, with voltages up to 1000 V, CCS, GB/T and CHAdeMO connectors, and IP54-rated enclosures. Several DC chargers running at once form a large load — not a steady one, but one that peaks with the hours vehicles arrive.
The 4 August article on the CD Restop – Scharge – SPT alliance put it plainly: the greatest challenge “lies not in the charger — but in the electrical infrastructure behind it: source capacity, the low-voltage grid, and the ability to balance load during peak hours”. That article ordered the four components as follows: low-voltage electrical works — transformer stations, distribution cabinets, capacity registration for 160–320 kW charging clusters; on-site solar, self-generated and self-consumed; BESS storing energy by day and discharging at peak hours to “stabilise fast-charging capacity and reduce pressure to upgrade the grid”; and only then the chargers themselves.
The first three components are capital-intensive and slow. Each rest stop is its own electrical problem — which roof, which grid, which hour the load peaks — and a network aimed at 34 provinces and cities means that problem repeats many times over. It is also the kind of work Coro Energy has already done on factory roofs in the South: signing long-term contracts with site owners, investing, operating, and — with the BESS pilot — testing storage right at the point of generation. From a factory roof to a rest stop roof, the technical layer is unchanged; what changes is the load beneath it: chargers instead of textile lines.
Role in the partnership with CD Restop
In the division of roles among the four strategic signatories published by cdrestop.com, SPT Group holds the Scharge charger system and its operating application platform; CD Restop is the operator of the Scharge network of smart rest stops and charging stations; DTH Holdings is responsible for electrical infrastructure and the energy management – operations platform (EMS/OMS); Coro Energy is the “Clean energy infrastructure investor — solar power, BESS storage and electrical infrastructure for the network”. In short: if SPT is the chargers and the application, and DTH Holdings the coordination layer, then Coro Energy is the source — clean electricity generated on site and batteries holding it for peak hours.
The path to 9 September consists of public milestones. On 5 August, at SPT Group’s headquarters, CD Restop presented the rest stop model to Coro Energy and other partners; the 7 August report recorded what Coro’s representatives focused on — “cash-flow structure, payback period, and the readiness of the legal and technical infrastructure at the planned deployment sites”. Those are the questions of a party that has signed 14- and 25-year contracts, not of a visitor. On 7 September, Coro Energy was announced as Diamond Sponsor; on 9 September, it stands with the other three parties in the strategic signatory row.

The CD Restop Strategic Partnership Signing Ceremony takes place from 16:00 to 20:30 on Wednesday 9 September 2026 at Ky Hoa Ben Thanh Hotel, 39 – 39A Nguyen Trung Truc Street, Ben Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City.
