📋 Article outline
In the announced list of partners for the CD Restop strategic partnership signing ceremony on 9 September 2026, Coro Energy serves as Diamond Sponsor — the highest tier of the event, alongside Gold Sponsor XECO, Silver Sponsor Amigo Entertainment and organiser Giang Sơn Việt.
This article introduces Coro Energy strictly on the basis of what the company has disclosed publicly: its official website, regulatory announcements on the exchange, and corporate registration records.
Who Coro Energy Plc is
The full legal name is Coro Energy Plc, a company listed on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange under the ticker CORO. According to the UK Companies House, the company was incorporated in England on 10 November 2016, registration number 10472005, with electricity generation as its registered activity.
In its regulatory announcements, the company describes itself as "a Southeast Asian renewable energy developer", focused on rooftop solar for commercial and industrial customers in Vietnam.
A completed strategic shift
Coro Energy did not begin in renewable energy. According to trade press, its predecessor Saffron Energy Plc listed in early 2017 with gas assets in Italy, took the name Coro Energy Plc on 5 April 2018, and then acquired a 15% interest in the Duyung PSC — the Mako gas field, offshore Indonesia.
That chapter is now closed. The 2025 financial report, published on 11 June 2026, states that the company has "completed its strategic pivot to a 100% renewable energy strategy". On 27 April 2026, following approval by Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Coro announced completion of the sale of its interest in the Duyung PSC to a subsidiary of Conrad Asia Energy; the Italian gas assets have likewise been fully divested. Chairman Tom Richardson wrote in the report that 2025 was "a transformational year for Coro".
The same report sets out the current strategy: "to build a scalable solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) business in Vietnam, serving commercial and industrial customers". Vietnam is where the company has placed its focus after divesting the remainder.
Factory rooftops in the south
Coro's Vietnam portfolio is not merely on paper: named customers, long-term contracts, all publicly disclosed.
- Phong Phu Corporation. According to Vinatex and Vietnam Industry and Trade Magazine, a cooperation agreement to develop rooftop solar was signed on 6 April 2022 in Ho Chi Minh City. According to Coro's website, the project comprises more than 4,500 panels across four factory rooftops, a total area of 16,120 m², under a 25-year power purchase agreement.
- Mobile World Group (The Gioi Di Dong). Coro operates rooftop solar systems at this company's retail sites under a 14-year power purchase agreement, commissioned in phases since July 2024.
- An Viet Phat Group. On 7 April 2026, Coro announced the signing of a 25-year equipment lease agreement together with an operation and maintenance contract with this new customer, installed at the first two plants, with Peb Steel Buildings as EPC contractor. The rooftop lease model is expressly stated to comply with recent changes to Vietnam's Electricity Law.
In Vietnam, power generation is carried out through Coro Renewables Vietnam Company Limited, tax code 0317030814, established on 16 November 2021, with rooftop solar power generation as its principal activity. According to the notes to the 2025 financial statements, this is an indirectly held subsidiary of Coro Energy Plc.
The next step: storage
Rooftop solar generates only during the day; the next problem is storage. On 3 July 2025, the company signed a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation with Threefold Energy Group Ltd, a specialist in deploying BESS hardware together with its own energy management platform. On 3 December 2025, Coro announced that it had signed binding documentation with Mobile World Group for a pilot deployment of a battery storage system co-located with an existing rooftop solar site in Ho Chi Minh City; the pilot runs for approximately four to six weeks from installation, in order to gather operating data and validate the business model before scaling up.
Why this partnership matters
On the CD Restop event page, the role of Coro Energy PLC is described as "an investor in clean energy infrastructure — solar power, BESS storage and electrical infrastructure for the network".
The first two elements of that description — solar power and storage — are precisely what Coro is doing on factory rooftops and retail-site rooftops in the south. The network CD Restop operates is aimed at more than 34 provinces and cities; each site is an independent electrical problem, repeated again and again. The experience of an organisation accustomed to signing long-term contracts with factory owners therefore carries practical value.
The content of each document to be signed and the list of signatories for each chapter will be announced at the ceremony.
